Howdy Kirk.

We had similar school records. I wanted to be a NuC E also. Realized the same thing you discovered...job opportunities meant the navy or some remote nuc site with few opportunities along the way. So went into EE. I recall the 5 hour per day homework life. Have been in and around particle beam and nuclear related type projects though over the years at the national labs. We built the first proton therapy system in the country at Loma Linda Medical Center east of LA.

Having been at the national labs off and on, I feel pretty confident nuclear fusion will never come from that direction. They have become big government, over the top expensive, good old boy clubs by and large. Years of hi dollar gov. funding and a lot of militarization has, imo, corrupted science.

Anyway, Maher,...never much liked the guy but that was pretty good.

Not in Texas. New Mexico. Texas's poor cousin. All that water at Tech...wow. Sinful. If we had that much water here we'd be using it to grow food.

Funny thing....two college degrees and I spend a lot of my time now hauling hay and water and building fence. But I can think about interesting things and fill my crew in on history and politics to make the work go by.
