Doubt the "feral" cat population is the primary problem. More likely it's domestic cats who are allowed to run free outside like your 3 out of 4 group.

Around here the cat population is controlled by coyotes, owls, eagles and the odd cougar. I am all for it.

I agree, the human species has really ridden rough shod on this planet.

Once we settled down and started agriculture that attracted the rodents.

Cities are artificial and so have their own ecology, IMO.

Chicago, as you know, is releasing hundreds of cats to kill the rats.

All of the cities have big rodent problems and cats are better than rat poison IMO.

Cats aren't the problem, the people are. They fail to spay and neuter their cats and they keep reproducing adding to the feral cat population.

Three of my cats come an go as they please through the cat door in the basement, and the 4th one prefers to be indoors unless accompanied in the yard.
