Don't worry, there will be plenty of noise for you.

They can't stop illegal sideshows here from shutting down freeways and city streets. I stopped driving through Oakland at night on my way home from visiting family in Napa and Moraga for fear a sideshow will shut down the freeway... why risk it and the crime that can come with it when I can drive a few extra miles around to avoid the criminal city?

Tell ’Em Where to Go: Oakland’s Sideshow Culture
Instead of spinning their wheels with crackdowns and task forces, authorities should give stunt drivers a safe space to go dumb.

Sideshows are often framed as being a magnet for criminal activity. Participants and enthusiasts disagree. What is absolutely true is that they are a unique expression of Oakland car culture. (Photo: Stephen Loewinsohn

Hi Win,

In 1978 when Chevrolet came out with the Corvette pace car (black top with silver bottom and the first vette with aluminum wheels - with special red pimstripe and the first to have glass T-tops, the higher performance engine L-82 was not available to be sold with a Muncie 4 spd.

The vehicle also was too loud for the noise emissions in Cook County that Chicago was within.

i believe that remained to be the case for several years.

When high performance cars can not be ordered due to noise emissions, it really hurts those dealers that inventory those types of cars.

It is regulation gone awry!

If I recall correctly some of the older Boeing 737's couldn't take off in certain airports due to noise pollution standards.

The EPA has been weaponized for decades.
