As homicides soar nationwide, mayors see few options for regaining control
Here are a couple of "options":

1) Fund the police. Get more "boots on the ground," as even the Baltimore chief of police is calling for. Train our police to much higher standards. That requires the exact opposite of "defunding."

2) Prosecute lawbreakers. Every single one of them. The DAs should represent the people, not the defendants. DAs are not public defenders.

If any mayor doesn't consider either of these "options" to be viable, that mayor should step down from office and let someone else do the job.
