True, but does Newsweek have ALL the tapes, or were they offered just a sample? They've only published a partial transcription of one. I doubt, for example, that they were given copies of the tapes made by Tripp at Starr's request. A partial record can be misleading.

And it does seem from what we know of statements supposedly made on the tapes that Monica isn't always truthful, and tends to exaggerate. Her own lawyer acknowledges this, and it would seem that the story of the stained dress was pure invention on her part... So she does seem to have been lying about that; my question is, in the absence of independent confirmation (which we've had in the case of the dress) how can we know whether anything she's said is true?
