US West will use CSCO switches, out of 14 states cover by US West for acces, as aaccess switches only. This products can not perform multiservies function like NN 36170 multiservices switch.US West is moving his beckbone to ATM base on NN platform( within 14 states-much biger investment) and it is not changing. At the same time BT is will eliminate CSCO legacy and move to NN platform.MCI which is currently using CSCO products is moving to NN.IF you have listned to con .call you have lerned that TDM customers are moving faster to ATM that planned, so we will see small vaccum before ATM will make up for decrease in ravenue associated with TDM. NN expect 15% decline IN TDM in ficsal 1999.Hovewer it will be still many making machine. Also VIVID is kicking in , and should be enchence by NN-3COM.NN is reducing big way unprofitable legacy of UB and this also will add to the bottom line.Looks thay try to be very conservative at this point, and prefer to surprise in the future.

I've tried to estimate ATM revenues vs. total revenues for the last couple of
years, based on statements in press releases saying things like "14%
sequential increase, 85% yr over yr", etc. So this is very rough...

Total rev. ($M) ATM rev. ($M)
Q3, 98 est.: 360 200
Q2, 98: 432 195
Q1, 98: 435 170

Q4, 97: 441 142
Q3, 97: 333 113
Q2, 97: 315 105
Q1, 97: 286 77

Q4, 96: 272 57

Looks like Q4 tends to usually be a biggie...

I wonder when we'll start seeing revenues from the big contracts signed last fall
with BT, MCI, Stentor, etc. (Remember those?) Those were ATM WAN
contracts that drove the stock to $95 CDN, not TDM contracts! Are they still
intact??

I noticed Q2 98's press release stated that 90% of 36170 customers were
previous TDM customers. So that huge installed base I mentioned in my last
post seems to be paying off. Will that continue??

What about ASND's comments about the 36190 being recalled from tech trials...
is that true??

Here's a big question mark... who will AT&T go with????

Andrew --

That's the finest synopsis yet. Thanks for taking the time to share with the forum. While agreeing that one will buy NN on its future prospects, the Street has a tendency to shoot its victims and then draw and quarter them just to be sure they're dead.

I had to go back to Nov. '95. to find the stock this low and then it hit 13 and change at the lowest. I would imagine there are some value investors ready to load up when the dust settles. I certainly will.

Regards,

Pat
