Duncan,

Kelly used to head up The New Republic.

He was canned because he wanted to tell the truth about Clinton/Gore.

Despite often differing political views, I had always respected and enjoyed The New Republic as a well written journal of the "honest left". When Martin Peretz, the owner, fired Michael Kelly because of his continued honesty in pointing out the corruption in the Clinton-Gore administration, I was very disappointed.
