Al, <off topic> you were a vietnam vet, as was my old man, ....you'd ask him, as a soldier, "how were you able to tell a veitnamese from a viet-cong?"....his response;..."if they were dead, they were viet-cong!" My point....wars are fought for 2 reasons. military & economic...at the time, with no 'economic' interest in vietnam, the reasons for our presence there were Military, the great pax Americana, etc. So, ....we got young guys, like my old man, you....fighting a peoples' war, children, women, everybody is suspect, the 'racism' in the soldiers is excited, suddenly 'anyone' Asian is the enemy...every 'dead' is veit-cong. With 2/3's of Mainland China, Thailand, etc....the only thing seperating us from the Great Pax-Americana is Vietnam....screw the UN elections so Vietnam can choose its' own fate, its' a small, agrarian country...communisum suits them just fine, and given 'choice' , the 'people' go with HO Chi Min. Hence, our presence. But the vietnamese people just wanted to gather their rice, tend their plots, etc. The Vietnamese didn't want us there, the VietCong didn't want us there ....we were there to set an 'EXAMPLE'...to every other 3rd world puppet gov't we needed to align, Nicaguara, Santa Domingo, Grenada, etc.....to stay in line or suffer the consequences. The death penalty is an 'example'...to society, not retribution, Not to 'punish' per se, but to put 'fear' in peoples' hearts. The problem is society always mimics its' govt. , so a gov't that rules with violence and oppression will be brought to its knees by violence & oppression. No oneshould be shocked by this womans''act', after the gov't's 'act' last night. Pugs
