Betty and All,

This is another piece of false JFK history, that JFK contributed to the space program. He didn't and admitted he had failed to recognize the importance of space exploration. The groundwork for the manned space launch of 1961 had been laid by President Eisenhower, and that was the last spaee venture until LBJ came along and reactivated that program.
