So I used to think, but whenever it seems they are within range of some kind of real reform they choke. It's not that they fail the effort, they usually abandon it.

Take today for example. Faced with a threat to the very voting system that makes democracy possible the Democratic leadership concentrates on giving out money and treats to supporters, most of which will probably vote Democratic anyway if they vote at all. In the mean time the very structure of our system is threatened. This is too consistent a pattern to be an accident. The Democrats just have a different narrative for the same agenda.
