Plain and simple, but for Kennedy we would not have gone to the moon. The 1962 speech that he gave at Rice university and the fear that the Soviets would beat us to the moon inspired our nation. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation many never come again. ... ...
