George..I like informative posts, too...but I'm not such a stuffed shirt that I can't have fun at the same time. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. S.

George, we appreciate all substantive contributions to the thread and when any of us has something worthwhile to add, we do so. As with every group, some members shine because of their high level of expertise. I have no special investing skills but try, nonetheless to post information when I find it so that the experts on the thread can do the analysis they are so often good at. I AM a good trader, a different animal, I know. I watch my screens throughout the day as many of us do and chatting is a friendly way to pass the time. I enjoy our "conversations" and the comraderie of the thread. You and anyone else is welcome to post here, even if it's just to shmooze and comment on the daily fluctuations of the market. But I don't appreciate your efforts to alter the gestalt which has been created by all the various contributors to the thread, many of whom have been posting here since the beginning.

Your DEC board may have a higher ratio of informative posts, but compared to the Compaq board, the DEC board is pretty inactive. You may have to wade through a lot more crap on this board, but I would bet anything there are several times more information on this board than DEC's. Anyway, some of the crap on this board is fun to read.

SI would be crazy to create a COMDEC board. Like it or not (and I am still reserving judgement), DEC is going to be part of Compaq. Once that happens, I doubt DEC is going to be releasing financial information (I could be wrong). As an investor, what relevance would there be to talking about just DEC? Your investment's success is going to hinge on the success of Compaq, and some of that success will depend on DEC. If there are relevant topics regarding the DEC portion of Compaq, there is no reason they cannot be discussed here.

Rather than trashing the Compaq board, you guys should be rejoicing that Compaq has bailed out DEC, and thanking DEC's management for making them attractive enough to be bailed out.

Every thread seems to have its Rickles and Dangerfields. They add spice and barbs in their banter. Mostly all in fun. They all have thick skins or they wouldn't draw the sword. You will get used to it. As my teenagers say, "chill" and enjoy. Even the R&Ds post good stuff here most of the time.
