Hello JRH, as much as a csco fanatic I am, we are a little overextended at the moment. That's what csco has always done-it will run up and pause, then pull back getting ready to make another run to new highs(higher highs and higher lows). I don't think that we will see the mid 50's again, however. Maybe $60.

JEH,

The astute trader usually picks a stock trading below its 200 ema to short. Consult your charts!

Shorting a stock on a daily or weekly basis is extremely dangerous.

JRH< if you have to worry about short term cap gains, what is the point of constantly jumping in and out ????? oh yeah, and commissions.

In order for CSCO to get to your 50's prediction, we would need an 18% correction.(using 54 as a figure). But to get to 70$ we would only need an 8% move. We will see 70 before we see 50. The momentum is driving the price, right or wrong, and a greater force will have to come into existence to turn the tide.

As for Shorting CSCO, it might be a good idea, but not a good time. Shorting stocks that are making new highs have a higher percentage of loss than shorting stocks making new lows.

Momentum = Money

I think your post is well stated and I would agree with you completely

There is certainly room for longs and shorts in this stock even though
I don't ever short a stock. I don't think I am perceptive enough for that
I have been accumulating Cisco since 1994 and consider it a core holding in
my portfolio.

Having said that, I think Cisco is fairly valued at this time. I expect it
to test 60 and trend upward to end the year at about 80.

IMHO. :-)

PS: Thanks for your posts. I find them well reasoned and they help us all to
keep this Company in the right perspective.
