I usually read the actual science paper, but this time I just schemed the general public version. If you really want to put a fine point on it, your metabolism is highest at birth and keeps going down thereafter. But I think the point of the research was to detect the last inflection point. So possibly the hormonal changes we go through after 60 are similar to the what we hit in our mid 20s - 30s. Like said, I did not read the actual paper (which is what I normally do). And the reason I only schemed the general public version is that to me the research was of little practical value. You should to eat healthy and exercise at any age regardless of what your metabolism is.

Of greater practical interest is the health of your gut biodome. TL;DR of a lot of research that I have read leads to the conclusion of eating lots of fermented foods and staying away from sugar.
