Re <<I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that any of that will work>>

a light-hearted respite of a Sunday afternoon, post reflexology and pre-dinner ... leaving the rest of earlier speculations aside for a moment, but as far as straight-down anti-ship protocol demonstration is concerned, it was demo-ed, 'they' witnessed the demo by invitation, two rockets were launched from varying and considerable distances, and saw a moving ship go down for the count, all presumably from airplanes and satellite(s), and after considerable passage of analytical time, started to say what 'they' said, ala 'we are not intimidated'.

(1) demo-ed scmp.com

(2) watcher in place edition.cnn.com

(2) saw it bloomberg.com

(3) 'it may not help ... destabilising' news.usni.org

(4) but there seems to be errors in counting and keeping track forbes.com

So, either the demo was an elaborate ruse, unlikely, or a DF21 bang-on DF26 spot-on X-marked-it invitation event.

'they' are not saying navy is obsolete, because it would be akin to saying mRNA vaccine is a dud, politically impractical.

In the big picture on the larger tapestry, all rather encouraging for planetary peace, when one stops to ponder it all, arguably, especially as nuclear parities amongst many parties can be reached cookie-cutting method.

In any case, I think it might be best to reckon (i) the missiles work, (ii) inexpensively, (iii) value for money, and (iv) there a quite a few of them.

The puzzle is that the missiles have been around for some time, and the boyz for a long time simply ignored the rollout, and then dismissed as ruse, intoning that there had never been a demonstration wired.com circa 2010

Unclear to me that there can be anything more transparent than Wired magazine, short of People Magazine

Just as strange, that to date there has been no counter to the quantum satellite that was lifted aloft 2015 ft.com

Perhaps 'they' have been too preoccupied occupying Afghanistan, that fabled choke point with long historical legacy :0)))))
