You may be right that the World Economic Forum is this generation's version of the Trilateral Commission. It has it's own new cast of characters because each one of those rich guys wants to be in charge and they can afford to start their own league if they want to play the game. That doesn't mean they are going to be successful taking over the world in some sort of benevolent oligarchy .

Many powerful people have long grown tired of the stress , and instead want to share what amounts to their spare change in order to be respected or adored by the recipients of their generosity. Prior to these organizations you had Carnegie in the gilded age, or Ben Franklin of the enlightenment. They collect their applause and leave the stage to the next act. The real worry is organizations that don't try to be benevolent and don't leave the stage, like the thousand years of Roman emperors. You should direct your energies into preserving the Republic rather than stopping people from getting heathcare or breathable air.
