I see rape not as a sex crime like consensual prostitution, but as a violent act of power over another, like assault.

I suppose you could make the same one-size doesn't fit all point regarding assault too. Nevertheless, if one argues rape is a sex crime I believe its in a different universe than say, the example above or indecent exposure on a public beach, or taking a piss on a tree where someone spots you.

I'm speaking as a citizen, not a lawyer.

My point is that laws are mostly a one-size fits all crimes arrangement and sex is never the same in two circumstances.
