You don't think we owe them any consideration for putting them in harms way?

Do you think it was Ok to leave all those people who aided us militarily to be hunted down and killed?

I think we could have marshalled the worlds developed democracies to make it a collective effort to sustain the burgeoning democracy and civil society as a foot hold in a barbaric 13th century area of the world.

The professionals I have read felt the hard work was done, and it would not have taken much to maintain the growth of the nation.

We rebuilt Germany, Europe, Japan and South Korea which cost a lot more money, so what is the difference?

<,

Modern Afghanistan was a huge welfare state created and funded by the West. It could likely only be stabilized with endless years of military and financial support of additional trillions of dollars, much of which would have been siphoned off to offshore bank accounts by the local politicians.

The whole adventure was a fools errand. There are numerous places where people are mistreated by their governments. We cannot save everyone.

Additional billions need to be spent on lifetime healthcare for the folks that served in our military and suffered permanent disabling injuries. That should be our priority now. let the countries bordering Afghanistan deal with it. They likely understand Afghanistan better than our political and military leaders. IMHO.
