We rebuilt Germany, Europe, Japan and South Korea which cost a lot more money, so what is the difference?

The rebuilding took place after Germany was totally destroyed with firebombs and Japan was totally destroyed with firebombs and nuclear weapons, and then we only accepted unconditional surrender of our enemies.

If we were willing to totally destroy Afghanistan the same way, killing millions of civilians in the process and achieving unconditional surrender, then it might be possible to get a different outcome. Try getting your fellow Americans to sign up for that bloodbath.

The difference is those countries accepted the legitimacy of US troops on their soil.
