Barry, my take: AMD has made no progress on .25m process, and Q1 will be another bleak quarter for AMD. PC Consumers should thank Intel for picking up AMD's slack.

Barry, <<From what I have heard, AMD's continued existence could be in jeopardy>>

May I ask where, specifically, you "heard" this? Not that I disagree with this possibility, but if it came to pass, for Intel it would mean less competitive pressure leading to higher margins, slower pressure on innovation, and greater pressure from the DOJ.

If a chapter filing ever does occur, the effect on INTC, and of coarse on AMD, would indeed be dramatic.

Barry & Addi, RE: reasons for AMD not talking to analysts anymore

This used to be AMD's modus operandi in the 80's. AMD said very little to analysts and the analysts always underestimated AMD's earnings -- EVERY QUARTER.

If there is any good news from FAB25, AMD would not want Intel to know about it, because they would respond with more aggressive price cuts. And if the news is bad, the interest rate on new debt for equipment purchases may rise significantly.

Based on that last thought, the best news we could hear from AMD would be announcement of a new credit agreement with a reasonable interest rate.
