It is a shame this has become so political. If Trump were president and said for all to "get the jab or the slab" while reminding the world it was HIS leadership that knocked down the FDA red tape that usually takes years to get the approval through... then the protestors would just be the far left loons that have protested vaccines all along.

I believe we've ALWAYS had a national requirement to get vaccinated if we travel to certain countries that have viruses and diseases we don't want visitors to bring back to the US. Same goes for the military.

Sadly, the piss poor is too good for them "leaders" we've had in the White House since Bush left are mostly to blame. Bush at least was smart enough to reach out to President Clinton to ask him to help when he needed the country to act together. They became good friends after Bush left office as a result. Obama, perhaps because he never lead a company OR a state as governor, had no clue about working with others while Trump was the opposite, he could only get things done by intimidation or playing the "your my good friend so I'll let you in on the crony capitalism deals" way of leading.

Oh well, in a way we're lucky we don't have kids as we don't have to worry about the terrible mess we've left them!

Biden dug a hole for himself by making covid vaccination his do-or-die mission. There are better ways to entice people into vaccination, and at the end of the day, one must understand that you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink.

Biden should switch gears into mitigation rather than prevention. And he should make it clear that if someone is refusing to be vaccinated, there is only so long that they will get free vaccines, medical care, or even the privilege of bumping someone else off a hospital bed if they are critically ill.

And if someone still doesn't want to be vaccinated, then all the power to them. The government should not force them into it.

And there is plenty of other things to be done such as improving the supply chain, modernizing online learning, providing better ways for people to work remotely or in person, as the case may be.
