Dear Bob: Greetings in the name of the Lord. As ambassadors of good will and of the high calling of Jesus Christ our Lord let us tell it on the mountain the benefits that accrue to us through the blood of He whom died and is sitting on His right hand as an eternal intercessor:: but nay do we serve Him because of benefits that flow to us naturally out of His goodness, but of our devotion and loyalty to He whom is kind and patient and longsuffering to those He calls His own; being purchased and redeemed from the evil one. There is a small correction to point out to you. Debt was cancelled every 50 years not 7 years. Every 7 years there was no sowing nor reaping and in the jubile year there was no sowing nor reaping for 2 years; the last year in the sabbatical 7 years and then the jubile year or the 49th and 50th year of the jubile cycle. LEV 25: 21-22 " Then I will command my blessings upon you in the sixth year , and it shall bring forth fruit for three years. And ye shall sow the eight year and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year: until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store. This is a very strong message!!! When God says I shall command , and in particular the word shall..He means it.. What a message to all the workaholics in this world, and the message was not meant only for the Isralite, but to the stranger , the homeless, the widow , the orphan also. The jubile was of the land that God gave eternally to Jacob..how much more so are the promises that we have in Christ which are an eternal gift. This is a message of freedom all across this land. The jubile year in particular gives us a lot of insight into the nature of God and His goodness. Everyone in a lifetime would at least once experience a jubile year; how much more so should we look forward to that promise of an eternal jubile, when all is provided for us. And on a shorter time frame the sabbatical 7th year making true Christ's statement, " take my yoke upon you for my burden is easy". To any non Christian my only statement is just taste, try Him as you would take that first sip of a fine wine, and see if what we tell you is not true..In Christ .gregor
