derek,

My assessment of your posts is that in general you favor strong
skeptical opinions stated forcefully. For the most part I see
companies investing a lot of money on products that you seem to
think don't exist or won't have a market. I seem to usually
disagree with your predictions.

specifically:

1) I think Java is moving quickly, you think slowly
2) I think that telephony will change radically in the next
few years along with the proliferation of cheap high bandwidth,
Quality of Service pricing for bandwidth, cheap devices, ubiquitous
Java, you poopoo Web telephony. As an example, in many countries
30% of phone calls received from the US are due to dialback arrangements that work around the high prices imposed by monopoly
pricing. This is a huge change in a short period of time. I think
analogous changes will result from Internet telephony. So do a lot
of companies investing in this area.

The way you discuss industry trends is unconvincing to me and runs
counter to what I see when reading about the industry and what
companies are actually doing.

Time will tell.

Dave
