Are you unhappy that there was a filibuster in '17, when Ryan, McConnell, and Trump were in power?

My point was that Obama picked Summer's and Geithner over Krugman and Stiglitz because he wanted people who would defend Wall street and the bankers, not go after them for the hundreds of billions of fraud they committed..

He wanted liaisons with Wall street and the bankers, not adversaries. .

And he picked Republicans for major cabinet posts for the same reason.

And I am sure that is the reason he put forth such a meager stimulus.

He also extended Bush's tax cuts for the rich for a year as payment for Republicans raising the debt ceiling.

He also fooled around for a year with the ACA with his six member bipartisan group of Republicans and Democrats and in the end every single Republican voted against it!

He could have passed the ACA the first day as the vote would have been the same.

He also could have had Howard Dean to do the ACA who was light years smarter than Katherine Sebelius who was a real mediocre administrator. Dean already knew the frame work of the ACA, but he would have been trouble again like Stiglitz and Krugman.

Obama did not want any fights at all and in the end the Democratic paid the price and now has to fight the Republicans in a much weaker position.

I'm not keen on blaming others for what a president decides. While he gets their advice it's his decision that matters.

What's missing? Republicans threatened to block every penny.

Stimulus Compromise Overcomes Senate Filibuster, 61-36

What happened afterwards? "Ten months into Obama’s presidency, Democrats have passed just one major piece of legislation, February’s stimulus package."

Biden and Manchin refuse to admit the filibuster destroyed Congress a long time ago.
