In Flynn's Ted Talk he emphasizes that each generation's thinking was more complex than the last.

Complex thinking is what smart is!!

Go to Honey Bee's or Lindy Bill's thread and look at their posting compared to this thread.

This thread is so much more complex.

It is the reason I have been here for 20 years or so. So long I don't remember.

I;ll go back and look at those two, but it would help if you could point out where he says people weren't getting smarter, I know he never said that!!

He NEVER says we are getting "smarter" in that lecture. Search for "smart" - it isn't there except as a title in another Author's work - and even then it is about how this effect is vanishing. Flynn points out it has even reversed in some places..

I know it is long-ish and requires focus, but I see no point in discussion of a popular video that has been superseded by another more recent and reflective lecture which points out the fallacies people such as yourself have generalized from a single type of intelligence testing-competency.
