Does anyone know how that rating fits in at RS. If (1) is Strong buy and (5) is sell, what is long term attractive?

SMTC short interests increased 66.6% in January. Could yesterday move a kind of squeeze effect of the new analyst coverage? Today we gave back 50% gain from yesterday, "bearly" qualify as a healthy consolidation. OTOH, SIII has more than twice the S/A than SMTC, it still moving up today but probably consolidate tomorrow or next monday.

The 2/5/98 Robbie Stevens report indicated that SMTC is trading at the lowest PSR and PE multiple of its peer group. This is good :-)

Here are the comparisons:

Company-------PE C98-------PSR(market cap to trailing 4Q sales)
Semtech---------22---------4.6
Linear ---------28----------12
Maxim----------29--------- 11
Micrel--------- 29---------- 6

AVG.----------27----------8.4

I note that Linear and Maxim DO have higher net margins, but as we see margin expansion at SMTC the PSR multiple should be allowed to expand, thus yielding higher stock price.
