I have maybe 2 to 5 NA beers a week in the event the positive effects are from compounds in the drinks rather than the alcohol itself. For red wine, some believe it is the Resveratrol but the data is not conclusive.

It may be a simple "chicken and egg" issue. About 10% of drinkers turn into problem drinkers so that 10% may skew the results. Also, people who can safely go for decades drinking moderately may have less addictive personalities and thus better avoid sugar, smoking and other life shortening habits.

BTW, my vegetarian, all organic food nephew believes there are life shortening compounds in wine so he avoids it too. Of course his father, my brother, sells it in Napa so there could be some of that push back too.
