I think you've mixed your apples with peaches. Just guestimating but I believe: kids have a very low rate of serious consequences TO THEMSELVES if they get COVID. Maybe 99.9% of them have nothing more than typical flu symptoms if they catch it with the majority being asymptomatic (ie they don't even know they have it.) But they can all get it and pass it on to elders with a near 100% transmission rate if they share a room or are in close quarters, especially common in low income households.... unless they have antibodies that knock it down quickly before they can spread it. I think the mRNA vaccines are 90% effective at the low doses they give kids at creating enough antibodies that they won't get COVID and pass it on to others. I'm pretty sure it takes millions of injections to get enough real hard data so they rely on antibodies and estimates... To me, it seems there is a lot more "winging it" given the poor presentation of what is what, especially for boosters and kid vaccines. If it seems that way to me with pretty good training in science, then it must be as clear as mud to most parents. Hope that is helps....
