Yes, I actually have a patent and it takes a super rich corporation to protect it hence they own it but my name is on it since they were paying for the research, work with out inhouse IP lawyer, etc. Most of the time when a big company violates a patent of another, they counter sue each other and settle... but now and then it can be like Oracle buying Sun and going after Alphabet for giving away the open source Java software for free, making money with the software while not charging for it, and not paying Oracle...

This is a clash of the titans that us mere mortals don't have at our disposal. I've been screwed multiple times by companies MUCH larger than me knowing I didn't have the legal resources to get what I was entitled to and had to accept their paltry settlement offers.
