Hi Emory,

>>>Maybe we should start a LS-120 thread...<<<

You bring up a good point. This isn't the first time I've been diagnosed with tunnel vision. : ^ )

Anyway, I don't know if this is helpful but if you do a subject search of:

LS-120

these 2 subjects are returned in the results:

LS-120 The New Standard Floppy
Forum: Iomega (IOM) and IMP (IMPX) , Replies: 39, Latest: Jun 20 1997 5:53PM
Subject 7580

3M LS-120 Beyond the zip.
Forum: Iomega (IOM) and IMP (IMPX) , Replies: 170, Latest: Jun 20 1997 5:37PM
Subject 6169

Interestingly, this thread (Imation Corp and LC-120 120MB 3 1/2" Disk and MKE's drive) doesn't appear in the results because of the typographical misspelling in the title. And granted, both forums are inert, but perhaps they can be revived. Certainly, your interest in LS-120 would be welcomed at:

Imation
Subject 10242

although as you point out, you might be harder to find.

Many thanks,
Ron

Emory, I bet on the LS-120 6 months ago when I purchased three new computers. I have been satisfied with the drives. They are faster than floppy drives. In one computer we eliminated the floppy drive altogether.

I was concerned that the drives would not take hold. I don't like to move to far ahead of the trends. Since that time I have seen the drives available as external drives in several retail outlets. I also see built in support on many of the newer motherboards. I did not know of the SCSI option but that would be my preference now.

I am not aware of another drive that is backward compatible to the floppy (I recall reading about one once but have not seen a reference to it again). I do not know of any reason that this drive cannot be used in laptops and sub $1000 PC's. If you have ever looked at these machines there is simply not enough room for multiple drives.

We are in need of a simple mechanism to transfer files from one computer to another. At this point in time I do not see any alternative to the LS-120.

Start a new thread or get the spelling fixed in this one.

If you start a new thread my recommendation would be to focus on the LS-120 drive. Put several options for the spelling as some might not use the dash. If you put something in () be sure to use a space after the ( and before the ) so the search engine does not see the ().

What about something like

LS-120 drives ( LS 120 LS120 )

Regards
