RE: Zip Click of Death. A good thing?

Reading through the test results from the Nomai knock-off disks, it appears that a very large percent of the Nomai disks experience the "Click of Death", especially after repeated insertions.

Perhaps this Click of Death isn't such a bad thing after all. ;)

*******************************************************************
I got the death click yesterday...

A JAZ. The one in the print room "borrowed' from time to time by anyone with the balls to take it from under my nose. It's about 18 months old. Roy will charge $189 to repair it -- sight unseen. Sounds good to me.
********************************************************************

Lets say they can't repair it, that's possible because they don't check the drive before it comes in for repair. Assuming the do make some profit repairing the drives. If they can't repair it then they don't want to loose money so they sell it for little to no profit. This might indicate that the Jaz costs IOM $189-$179 to make. this means eventually the Jaz will be retailing at $199 to compete with the cheaper brand i.e. SparQ.

This also means that the Zip+ is going to have to come down in price...I believe eventually to $100-$129 range...with the classic Zip eventually at $59-$75.

If their ad campaign works, and judging the abundance of External PP of Zip and Zip+s, they certainly will have the supply to meat demand...if not retailers an very large inventory to get rid of.....I can't believe the , the retailers, could be that wrong.

Prices of IOM drives are coming down my friends....hopefully it'll be because the company planned it.
