Two flames ...

Re: Night Hawk Entertainment Corp. - I am surprised they didn't describe themselves as "a leader in the biomtric identification industry" or eclaim that they would have millions of the product on pc users desks by Christmas.

Re: SACM and Pinnacle - If I buy your product and you buy my product we will both show higher sales!

I still think that the PC Bio ID market will be a lot slower to develop than the new boys on the block think.

This SACM-Pinnacle deal describes a fairly sophisticated lockout system for networks by providing a person-by-person "clearance" approach. The concept is good, although I question SACM's "state of the art" status (unless it's color by numbers art), and Pinnacle is an unknown quantity. I don't think parental oversight of internet materials is very realistic, however, since it is the lockout programmer (i.e., parents or system administrator) who has to know what and how to lockout. I trust office professionals in this, but Mom and Pop won't have a clue.

As to the Printrak announcement, that looks to be a clear advantage to search among all data bases. I'd sure want that.

The agreement calls for SAC to purchase 15,000 copies of Pinnacle's desktop security software in 1998 and a minimum of 20,000 copies for each of the next two years in order to maintain the exclusivity.

Who got the better of the deal here? <ggg>
