There is no such thing as unannounced launch. We have strict protocol to announce all launches from CAPE.

We ensure that in case of emergency we can blow up a rocket like challenger incident so as to minimize hazards to the public and facilities.

As a safety engineer I did not let them bend the rules - space x blew up one of the pads at cape side see space x- 7 launch to the ISS.

Then NASA gave them the moon pad 39 A for a long term lease exclusively.

As an ardent supporter of NASA, I felt saddened that the pad went to an entity exclusively. It’s a national treasure and a national historic landmark.

A picture of me standing on pad 39 A from where Neil Armstrong went to the Moon on Apollo 11, is in the NASA museum at KSC right under Atlantis. What a joy for a small kid from India to be part of NASA history.

Buy the book Infinite worlds by micheal soluri on Hubble mission. It is a coffe table book by many astronauts. I wrote the last chapter.

This launch and every other launch MUST be announced its the rules of engagement of RANGE SAFETY.

Regards.
