They certainly don't make the stock market volatile like they used to!
This is the average of the 10 leading stocks during Livermore's era.

Effectively the blue chip index of its time. Livermore of course traded way past this time, but this what he cut his teeth on. The "index" nearly tripled in about a year. Then crashed. Then up again...you get the picture.
