When Trump started putting pressure on Chinese companies, I said that he was playing a dangerous game and that the US is more vulnerable than uncle sam thinks. At the time I said that China, being a big exporter of goods, is vulnerable to trade war. At the same time, the US being a net exporter of debt, is vulnerable to capital war. I guess the people in DC can't do this kind of analysis. And what we are seeing is a partial trade war and a partial capital war. We'll see where it ends, but no nation has ever benefited from a prolonged war.
