In my personal experience, Chinese (and Indians) who've been raised here often manage to retain the best qualities of both cultures and tend to do well. Those who come straight from the homeland, I tend to stay away from. Their mindset, even now, is just too stuck in 3rd world mentality. And by that I mean a certain kind of aggressiveness and passive-aggressive mindset that is both short sighted and abrasive. My best friends have been Chinese and Indians (and Germans, French, and Russian - if I include the Western side). People whom I've disliked the most have also been Chinese and Indians (and French and Russian <g>). It just depends on how much common ground you have with each other. And if they grew up here, then there is more common ground.
