Once when I was 21, we were loading a truck for a customer who bought $80,000 of goods that night and wanted it the next day. (That's like $250,000 in today's money).

The salesman was on the line with the buyer until 8:30PM. Once the order was in, we had to process it.

Well, once the truck was loaded at 2:30AM, we could not close the doors on the trailer. The weight of the load had caused the trailer truck to sink so far as to make the doors nearly welded to the loading dock.

Our solution? We removed the trailer doors from the hinges, detached them, moved the trailer away from the dock, and re-attached them to the trailer.

It took until 4:30AM to do this. I was the international purchasing manager, but I stayed to see it out and loaded the trailer with the warehouse people.

I was in the office 8:00AM the next morning, to work until 10:00PM that night.

That's how I rolled.

You lead by example.
