Sales of high price items looked good at AMES, Natick store. They have not been replenished yet. But the traffic returned to normal. Which means traffic increase reversed. AMES better knew what they did to increase their traffic? Is it their stock prices? Dell enjoyed their stockholders' business. Is it the merchandise mix? It has improved. Or is it the catalog flyer delivery, during the snow in the North East? Maybe. Is it the period of lack of inventory, customers went elsewhere? Maybe, but------

Packing density helped Bradlee and Caldor. AMES had record success due to the increase inventory before X'mas. Last year, first quarter loss had the same strategy of reduced inventory, plus many AMES stores closing. Better put more emphasis on developing to 2400 vendors. Then fill and pack double density in each store.

We know what we are doing. We know the traffic increased long before X'mas, with $540 million inventory.

Never screw up the stockholders to buy back the odd lots. Odd lotters will buy more to fill up to round lots. The more stockholders, the better the market for AMES stock. AMES want more small stockholders to make some money on AMES stock, especially their own employees. I think I quoted "Chainsaw Dunlap's" famous last word. Sorry, Chainsaw. OOPS, Mr Dunlap, Sir.
