Brendan,

Sorry you guys, but I bailed on this one at under 4. I was surprised the damage wasn't more, as I still see a 2 in their near future. I wish you luck on this one, but I felt lucky after this latest news - this is 3 straight quarters where they've dropped a bomb with no notice. I hope they are getting their act together and cleaning house, but there are way too many unanswered questions, and this company is real secretive about information.

regards,

Ed

Another question: Why did the COO and CFO both buy
meaningful amounts of SYSF stock at ~$4 3/4 close
enough to the end of the quarter to know that they
would not succeed in making their revenue?

Revenues were way down because a number of the OEM customers purchased
more licenses in the 3rd quarter than they needed, and therefore did
not need to purchase any more for the latest (4th) quarter. Also,
a number of salespeople left during the 4th quarter, which most likely
meant that a number of deals were probably left on the table & not
closed.(this could be good news for next Q?) It's unfortunate that we will not know all of the details until the official earnings announcement on March 3rd. -Sure would help to get the CPQ deal. Also, can anyone comment on the recently announced deal with MUEI including SystemWizard in their new sub $1000 PCs? Who would sell SYSF now without knowing the full story? (just trying to be a bit optimistic)

Revenues for FY1998 will be about $43.6MM which is about 10% more than FY1997. Ten percent is definitely not what we were hoping, but SystemSoft's revenues have historically been inconsistent--revenues for the nine months ending in October 1997 were 40% higher than the same period a year earlier. Yesterday's press release spoke specifically about the desire to yield more consistent results, so I continue to hope this is in our future!

Also, for what it's worth, one of SystemSoft's competitors saw a rise of 14% in revenues for the comparable period. (In many ways, a comparison of this sort is irrelevant, but it at least provides some perspective).

I'm very curious whether the three analysts following the company will issue forecasts for FY 1999 prior to the March conference call and what their comments are.
