It is obvious that whatever I and MSFT can see is working in both the technology markets and the securities markets.

This has always been my point. Gates and MSFT do well in business, but their technological grasp is less than good. In the end, then, they've either got to slow down, or they'll end up slowing technical innovation and growth. Please don't spout any 'but IE is innovative' crap at me, either. I'm talking real innovation, in things like file systems, compiler design, kernel design, etc., not dancing paperclips.

They may be good at making money (and lots of it), but their technology is only going to prove bad for the industry in the long run unless they are split up or restricted in some way.
