I am also mystified at how PETA and so many animal lovers will go to great lengths protecting animals, bird and reptile eggs, habitat and even raising funds to keep sick, suffering animals alive with heroic, expensive surgeries or treatments while they are strongly prochoice.

That one is easy. Animal lovers who are pro-choice don't think a fertilized egg is the same thing as a born baby.

A Time for Mercy, where a 14 yr old child was raped in the "Bible Belt" by a brutal cop the lived with and her slightly older brother shot dead when he passed out after beating their single mom nearly to death. The cops family tossed them all out onto the streets since the mother was not married to the cop...

This is another thing which crops up in political discussion. Super extreme situations which are presented as ethical dilemmas, OK, this type of thing happens, to a few people. But in my life I don't have these SUPER extreme situations. As far as I know nobody related to me is secretly raping my kids, thank goodness. So while this type of topic makes for interesting literature and thrilling entertainment, it remains only as important as I want to make it important.

Most transgender kids are not winning trophies in women's sports, making us wonder if it's fair.

Most illegal aliens are not shooting and killing citizens

Most Mexicans are not sending their children, unaccompanied by them, across the US-Mexico border into the gunsights of border patrol agents.

But the media tells us these are BIG topics we all should be thinking of and worried about and have STRONG STRONG views about, because these are really really really important subjects.

I prefer to focus on real life. That is, we gotta pick the kids up from school, we try to befriend the parents of our classmates, life is really normal, and so I focus on enjoying the things that are pleasant (socialing with our neighbors, watching NFL), and avoid the things that are tedious and unpleasant (traffic jams, paying high ticket commissions (I hate dat!!)).

Someone else can focus on the media's issues. Not me.
