Thanks.

"GOP bill sponsors said outside donations to government agencies create the impression of undue influence in elections."

It does create that impression and government is supposed to go out of its way to avoid giving the impression. The veto would look better if it came with some effort to correct any chronic shortfalls in funding for servicing elections, IOW, fixing the problem rather than the symptom.

>> North Carolina received at least $4.7 million from the Center for Tech & Civic Life and the Center for Election Innovation & Research. It was used to purchase pens for voters at the polls, provide bonuses to workers at early voting sites and send mailers about voting procedures, according to the State Board of Elections. Another 10 counties also got monetary help from the USC Schwarzenegger Institute to run polling sites, the state board said.

The question that must be asked is, "Does the contribution and distribution of funds by private donor to destinations determined by the donor on a per-county basis, create any actual or any appearance of impropriety?"

If it does, it stops right there. It cannot be allowed.

This is the one question that must be asked and answered. Interestingly, it seems all Democrats are just okay with this obviously corrupt initiative. The same people who were whining about Citizens United have no problem with actual money contributed to to enable cheating in the precincts.
Isn't that something.
