The quote was "cited" yes, but the letter wasn't widely reprinted, if ever, in the mainstream press-my original point. It has much greater impact when read-especially since he's supposed to be a Rhodes Scholar but when you read the letter it seems written by an average high schooler.

The "supposed quote" you cast doubt on is a fact that has not been disputed anywhere. It's on police surveillance tapes. Of course some on this thread say facts are open to interpretation so you can interpret this any way you wish to fit your agenda.

And equating Reagan's beginnings of Alzheimer's Disease and not being called on it by the press with Bill Clinton's misdeeds being ignored by the press is truly an example of Senator Moynihan's, a true intellectual IMO, definition of "Defining Deviancy Down" as there ever was one. I remember the press asking questions about Reagan's competency towards the end of his second term but they did cut him a lot of slack. He earned it.
