You are right about Bush, another one I'm not a big fan of, he did get more or less a free ride on Jennifer Fitzgerald. Was that affair while he was in office? I don't remember. IMO one affair is tolerable by most people. I think very few people would be upset with Clinton if he had an affair with a person, ala Tracy and Hepburn, over a long period of time due to problems with the marriage, etc. It's all the other stuff that's got people going.

About Bush's wartime accusations. I can't speak knowledgeably of any of the incidents you reference. I only know one sometimes does things in war they later regret. It's hard to put oneself in another's shoes under those kinds of circumstances. As for firing on his own men-did he do it on purpose? I doubt it. Accidents like this happen all the time in war. I know men who've accidentally fired on their own in war-they carry it with them the rest of their lives-after all these are good people, not sociopaths. Would you hold it against that poor helicopter pilot who killed his own men in the armored personnel carrier during the Gulf War after being heard on the radio repeatedly asking if they were ours or theirs? Somehow one has to pick up and go on with their lives-I don't know how they cope. It must be very difficult.
