Christine,

I'm not completely sure that we agree in our respective perceptions of Pomona!

One question you raise in your post is that in a meaningful society whose gonna sweep the floors? Seriously, I do not consider any task demeaning when it contributes to the smooth overall operation of the business at hand--including mopping the floor or making and serving coffee. What I found more important than who does what is that my employers trusted my judgment implicitly and depended upon me to act in their absence as they would in any given situation. Now that's power!

I have not been employed as a secretary in its strictest definition for a very long time. In fact, I haven't even been "employed" in its strictest definition for a very long time. However, I have been privy to much sensitive information and have every intention of carrying such to my grave, for it comes with the contractual territory and is deeply intrenched in my belief system. Would I flatout lie for someone? Emphatically no! Neither would I be willing to volunteer the equivocal or what might be open to interpretation and endless shoveling of smoke.

Again, you beg the question--and bigtime! Of course, I am not implying that because perception is subjective we should throw out the eyewitness statements, throw up our hands and let the guilty go free. How could you possibly infer or be led to think I have proffered such an either-or solution from anything I have posted??!!

For some further thoughts, please refer to my post (I believe) #5071 to Jim.

And may I bring you some coffee or tea or perhaps something else? And what do you take with it?
