Can you tell me what the approximate fuel/air ratios are used
in conventional diesels. And do you know what the displacement
of the engine in the Super Car is?

Well, I think the purpose of the intercooler is to improve volumetric efficiency and allow more fuel to be burned each cycle, not to "cool" the engine or pistons. Most turbodiesels have a little oil spray directed against the underside of the piston to keep them cool.

Post Edit: Believe it or not, my Volvo diesel is redlined at 5200 rpm. Other automotive diesels (VW, at least) are similarly rated. At 76 mph in O/D, I'm turning 3000.
