Exactly. Gates first tried to laugh at the idea, then when he realized it could be a problem, decided to buy it (as usual). Funny thing is Gates is now trying a "I Love My PC" campaign.

I know that Oracle was into the NC before Microsoft bought WebTV,
but it seems to me that the NC thing took too much attention away from the release of Oracle 8. There have been numerous articles in newspapers and magazines that time and money were redirected from the database and applications side and focus shifted on the NC, especially on the sales force side. I think the NC thing is important, and should be developed further, but they need to stay focused on their "Bread and Butter".
