Something about INTC and the chip they could use in low-end devices - the StrongARM maybe (from a BW talk with an INTC employee):

Well, the consideration of low-end devices is different from considering a Java-specific chip. We are certainly interested in new devices and appliances and the processors they may require. We sell more microcontrollers at below $20 than microprocessors every year, for example. As part of the DEC settlement, we have obtained the rights to StrongARM, and we are now digesting what, if anything, we should do with it, and how it might fit in our product portfolio. There isn't much else I can disclose about it at this time, however.
