I've heard that too. Owls are cool critters.

It's not a good idea to sit down under their nest or perch. I've heard they can spread disease from their scat.

Owls (not sure which type) are frequent visitors to our backyard as we back onto a golf course and green belt. I much prefer them to our hawk visitors as they don’t go after the birds we are feeding. The owls don’t seem to be bothered by our proximity. We can do just about anything in the backyard and they stay put.
