Tbh, I never got around to believe that masks are a political issue. They’re barriers. They catch droplets. As an example, if someone’s sneezes in a person's face in a supermarket, the original viral load entering that person's airways will be much lower. It may take the virus longer to make enough copies of itself to cause clinical illness. The immune system may have more time to kick into gear.

Right now in Florida (where there are no mask mandates) many people are wearing masks. In stores, more than half. No one told them to wear masks - everyone made their own choice. With omicron having hit probably most people I know, it makes sense. I expect in 2-3 weeks it will be over, and they’ll take off those masks. And that’s the way it should be.
